# Session 45 — Block 027 Target 4 close (vol-derived sizing extension via FX smile substrate)

**Status:** Block 027 closed Working+ on all 4 targets (Targets 1-2 closed Session 43; Targets 3-4 closed Session 44 + 45). Castagna smile work re-filed as Block 027 Target 4 extension per user catch 2026-08-15.

## Re-file note (user catch 2026-08-15)

User surfaced that on-disk block 028 = FX intervention mechanics, not FX smile. The Castagna work was motivated by Block 027 carry-forward ("Castagna chapter on FX vol surface if Target 4 lands on vol-derived sizing") and is properly a **Block 027 Target 4 extension**. All session artifacts re-filed accordingly:

## What we did (Session 45)

### Probe sequence (cast as Block 027 Target 4 vol-sizing extension)

- **Compression to label without discriminator check:** "vol regime change" without checking ATM vol; "people are reacting" without specifying actor type; "non-commercial hedgers" conflating speculators and hedgers. Class: surface-label answer.
- **Time-to-resolution inversion when classification is missing:** Probe 5b. Class: classification → time-to-resolution substrate is two-step, slip recurs on step 1.

Both classes noted in carry-forward to Block 030 (vol trading) and Phase 4 (cross-asset vol) for re-test.
