# Roberta Aldeghi — Target Roles Reference (Zurich)

*Working document for identifying and applying to next-step roles. Constraints: Zurich area; no assistant-type roles; no sales/quota roles; finance industry optional; decent work-life balance; should read as career progression. English-first employers preferred; German-heavy roles only if otherwise a perfect fit (German is advanced, not fluent).*

## 1. Positioning: three credible archetypes

Her CV supports three distinct narratives. Each application should pick ONE and lead with it:

**A. Investment reporting & analytics professional** — performance attribution, NAV validation, portfolio reconciliation, ad hoc and recurring fund reporting, cross-asset product knowledge (funds + ETFs, all liquid asset classes).

**B. Investment operations / client lifecycle professional** — trade execution and booking (govies, rate futures, funds, equity, FX), constraint monitoring and rebalancing vs. model allocation, account opening/KYC, custodian coordination.

**C. Coordination & communications professional (transferable outside finance)** — end-to-end event production (venue, contracts, invoicing, invitations, speakers, catering, follow-up), RFP/DDQ project coordination across compliance/marketing/investment teams, marketing material production, CRM (Salesforce) and mass-mailing (Stoneshot) tooling, quadrilingual client communication.

## 2. Role shortlist

### Tier 1 — strongest fit + progression + WLB

#### 2.1 Client Reporting / Investment Reporting Specialist → Team Lead track
- **Employers:** custodians and asset servicers (State Street, Northern Trust, BNY, Caceis — all in ZH), mid-size asset managers (Vontobel, GAM, Bellevue, Fisch, Swiss Life AM, Zurich Invest), private banks (Julius Baer, LGT).
- **Why attractive employer-side:** she has produced exactly this output (ad hoc + monthly fund reports, portfolio extracts, attribution commentary) AND understands the client on the receiving end — rare combination.
- **Highlight:** BNPP ad hoc/monthly fund reporting; G&G performance attribution reports and out/underperformance commentary; GFG NAV estimation vs. custodian; cross-asset product coverage.
- **Notes:** custodians are English-first, process-driven, predictable hours. Clear seniority ladder (Specialist → Senior → Team Lead) = visible progression away from "assistant."

#### 2.2 RFP / DDQ Specialist or Proposal Manager
- **Employers:** asset managers (UBS AM, Swisscanto/ZKB AM, Swiss Life AM, Lombard Odier IM, smaller boutiques), insurers' AM arms, fund platforms.
- **Why attractive:** direct RFP/RFI/DDQ and complex questionnaire experience from the buyer-facing side; product breadth; compliance coordination.
- **Highlight:** BNPP RFP/RFI completion and KYC questionnaires; role as clients' main reference for complex quarterly questionnaires; coordination with compliance/marketing; wholesale + institutional exposure.
- **Notes:** supports sales but carries no quota; deadline spikes exist but generally plannable. "Proposal Manager" titles read clearly as progression. Almost always English-first.

#### 2.3 Performance & Attribution Analyst
- **Employers:** custodians, asset managers, investment controllers/consultants (PPCmetrics, Complementa, c-alm — note: these three are German-heavy; flag as "perfect fit only").
- **Highlight:** G&G attribution analyses for client meetings; GFG daily NAV validation; portfolio deviation monitoring vs. target allocation.
- **Notes:** more analytical progression than 2.1; may benefit from CIPM or similar down the line — worth mentioning willingness to certify in cover letters.

#### 2.4 Investment/Portfolio Operations Specialist at an EAM, MFO or single family office
- **Employers:** Zurich/Zug EAMs and family offices (dense market; Alpen-type shops, MFOs, SFOs), boutique asset managers.
- **Why attractive:** small teams prize her exact generalist stack — execution, booking, reconciliation, rebalancing, account opening, reporting, client servicing — with no training needed.
- **Highlight:** G&G order execution across desks + booking + constraint compliance + drift correction; GFG futures/govies execution; account opening documentation; client reporting.
- **Notes:** WLB varies by shop — screen carefully. Often genuinely broad roles that can grow into COO-track. Frequently English/Italian-friendly.

### Tier 2 — good fit, progression, mostly finance-adjacent

#### 2.5 Client Lifecycle / Onboarding / KYC Specialist → Team Lead
- **Employers:** banks (all), EAM platforms, fund admins, crypto-adjacent regulated firms (Sygnum, 21Shares — English-first).
- **Highlight:** account opening documentation across multiple custodian banks; KYC completion at BNPP; client communication in 4 languages.
- **Notes:** very stable WLB; risk of feeling procedural — target roles with process-improvement or team-coordination scope in the description.

#### 2.6 Client Success / Account Manager (non-quota) at financial data & index firms or B2B fintech
- **Employers:** SIX Group, STOXX (Zug), MSCI, Morningstar, Bloomberg (client service, not sales), Zurich fintechs (e.g., Leonteq service side, Additiv, portfolio-tech vendors).
- **Why attractive:** they want people who speak "buy-side" fluently and can manage relationships without selling; Salesforce proficiency is a stated requirement in most postings.
- **Highlight:** main reference contact for institutional/wholesale clients; Salesforce interaction management; fund document/data servicing; Bloomberg power user.
- **Notes:** English-first almost universally; "Account Manager"/"Client Success Manager" titles read as clear progression. Verify "no quota" explicitly — some CSM roles carry renewal targets.

#### 2.7 Fund Analyst / Manager Selection Analyst (junior-to-mid)
- **Employers:** private banks' fund research desks, MFOs, fund platforms, consultants.
- **Highlight:** cross-asset fund and ETF product knowledge; DDQ familiarity from the answering side (she knows what questions matter); GFG macro/central-bank scenario research.
- **Notes:** most "analytical progression" feel of the list; competitive entry — position the DDQ/product breadth angle hard.

### Tier 3 — outside finance (transferable)

#### 2.8 Events & Marketing Manager / Corporate Events Manager
- **Employers:** professional services (Big 4, law firms — English-first), industry associations, universities/business schools (UZH, ETH, ZHAW — good WLB), pharma/med-tech congress teams, luxury & consumer brands with Zurich presence (On, La Prairie, watch brands' marketing offices).
- **Highlight:** end-to-end event production from scratch (venue sourcing, contracts, invoices, invitations via Stoneshot, speaker + catering coordination, post-event follow-up); external conference presence management (Citywire, PIMS); compliance-approved marketing material production.
- **Notes:** genuine exit from finance; "Manager" title = progression. Event weeks are intense but cyclical and plannable. Associations/universities have the best WLB of the whole list.

#### 2.9 Treasury Operations Specialist (corporate)
- **Employers:** corporates in ZH/Zug (ABB, Siemens Smart Infrastructure, Sika, Holcim, Barry Callebaut; avoid trading houses if WLB is the priority).
- **Highlight:** FX and fixed-income execution and settlement; reconciliation discipline; bank/custodian coordination; account documentation.
- **Notes:** corporates offer strong WLB and structured career paths; English is working language in most HQ treasury teams. Slight retraining on TMS systems expected — frame Bloomberg/ops background as directly analogous.

#### 2.10 Project Coordinator → Project Manager (business/PMO)
- **Employers:** insurers (Zurich Insurance, Swiss Re — English-first, benchmark WLB), pharma, professional services.
- **Highlight:** cross-functional coordination (compliance, marketing, external vendors, internal speakers); budget/invoice management; multi-stakeholder client programs.
- **Notes:** consider a CAPM/PRINCE2/Scrum cert to formalize — cheap, fast, and materially improves screening odds outside finance.

## 4. Framing rules for all applications

- **Never use "assistant" or "support" as the verb.** Reframe: "supported the fund manager" → "executed and booked the fund's fixed-income and futures trades; independently ran daily NAV validation and pre-meeting central-bank scenario analysis."
- **Kill the sales association** for non-sales targets: BNPP role = "client servicing, reporting and proposal management for institutional and wholesale clients," not "sales support."
- **Quantify where possible** (fill in with Roberta): AuM of GFG fund, number of client relationships covered, number of events/RFPs per year, event budgets managed.
- **German:** state "professional working proficiency (B2/C1)" — don't apologize for it; for English-first employers it's a plus, not a requirement.
- **Certifications to mention as "in progress" if she commits:** CIPM (reporting/attribution track), CAPM/PRINCE2 (project track), CAIA/CFA L1 (fund analyst track). One is enough — pick per archetype.

## 5. Screening checklist per posting (WLB + no-sales filter)

1. Quota, revenue target, or "hunting" language anywhere? → out.
2. "Fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline-driven" as the *lead* descriptor? → caution.
3. Team size ≥3 in the same function? → better coverage, better holidays.
4. Employer category WLB prior: associations/universities > insurers > custodians/corporates > asset managers > banks > EAMs (variable) > trading/hedge funds.
5. English as working language confirmed in posting or Glassdoor? If German C1+ required → apply only if role is otherwise a 9/10.
